Renewed Hope Ministries, Inc. was founded by Pastor A. L. Underwood on November 4, 1985. The first service was held in the apartment of Pastor and his family in Birmingham, AL. with a membership of only five, (Pastor, wife and three members)

Beginning with nothing, no materials or money, Pastor Underwood stated to the members, "We have nothing, the only way to go is up." In two weeks the five member congregation moved to a upholstery shop in Lipscomb, AL. The city of Lipscomb loaned RHM chairs to use in our service. The ministry begin to grow. RHM stayed in that location for six weeks.
In January 1986, RHM moved to a store front in Bessemer, AL. with eighteen members. The next couple of years our faith was challenged through struggles. Some pioneers left to pursue other ambitions, others for reasons beyond their control. Meanwhile, God's hand was still on our Ministry - he was Jehovah Jireh; God back then as he is today, upholding RHM Supernaturally and by His power.
On December 25, 1989, God blessed the RHM family to move into our present day facility located in Bessemer, AL. We moved in with twenty-eight members and a $89,000.00 deficit. In five years (1994) with twenty-eight members, the deficit was paid in full and we were debt free. ALL PRAISE AND GLORY TO GOD OUR FATHER!

Since the birth of our ministry we've faced many oppositions from our adversary. We've witness many to come and go, lives changed and transformed by the power of God. I believe one of the reasons the enemy has fought as hard to abort this ministry is because it was birthed by God to Re-New Hope in the lives of all people.
Today after being in existence for approximately 30 years, we have a vibrant ministry that ministers to all people of all ages, races, and denominations. The teaching of God's word is explained in simple terms making it easy for listeners of all ages to understand and apply to their daily lives. God is adding daily to the church such as should be saved and with this continued growth, we will move into our new facility very soon. Praise be to God!
